Our story

A new mission, close to home.

I wanted work that kept me closer to my family and gave me a chance to genuinely help people. Brothers Mattress became that new mission.

The road back to the mattress business.

The story began in the early 2000s, when Justin Morris helped start a local mattress and furniture store in Summerville while still in high school. In late 2004, he followed in the footsteps of his father, a retired Navy Master Chief, and enlisted in the United States Marine Corps.

After two deployments to Iraq and another deployment to the Middle East, Justin returned to Charleston in 2010. He attended culinary school, worked as a chef downtown, and built a long career in hospitality. He also became a husband and father.

The work was rewarding, but it came with missed family events and milestones. In early 2024, Justin made the difficult decision to find a path that would let him be more present at home.

Finding Point Hope

The right place for a different kind of store.

On the way to one of his son’s flag football games at Philip Simmons High School, Justin discovered Point Hope on Clements Ferry Road. The neighborhood immediately felt like the right home for Brothers Mattress.

By then, Justin already knew the kind of store he wanted to build: smaller, more personal, and focused on American-made products, fair prices, and straightforward help.

Why “Brothers”?

Because family is bigger than a last name.

Justin has three brothers, and he also knows the bond of brothers in arms. The name honors both. It reflects the reason he opened the store too: to provide for his family without always being away from them.

After surgery brought her 30-year nursing career to an end, his mother Stephanie joined him as a business partner. His dad helps with deliveries, and his children create flyers and pitch in around the showroom. It is a family business in every sense.
